Gabriela Spears-Rico is an assistant professor of American Indian studies and Chicano and Latino studies at the University of Minnesota. Born in Michoacán, she is the daughter of migrant farmworkers and was educated at Stanford and UC Berkeley. She is a Mellon fellow, a former fellow at the Institute of Citizens and Scholars, a former visiting scholar at El Colegio de Michoacán, and an NDN Collective grantee. She co-founded the Parakata Tzintzun Working Group.
