Ranjan Datta

Ranjan Datta is a Canada research chair in community disaster research and an associate professor in Indigenous studies at Mount Royal University. His interdisciplinary research bridges Indigenous land-based knowledge, climate justice, and community-led disaster adaptation in Canada, Bangladesh, Nepal, Ghana, and beyond. Datta co-develops land-based learning and cross-cultural climate education with Indigenous, Black, and racialized immigrant communities. Datta has received prestigious awards such as the 2023 Sustainability Champion Award and the Excellence in Cultural Resource Management Award.
