Sophia Martínez Abbud received her PhD from Rice University and is currently an assistant professor of Latinx literature and culture at Utah State. As a scholar of and from the U.S.-Mexico border, her research revolves around stories of border crossings, both of nation-states and of social norms. She is a cohost of the podcast Señora Power, which shares stories about Mexican American women as community leaders and organizers in California and Texas.
