Institutional Repository Policy

The University of Arizona Press supports responsible sharing of scholarly research and recognizes the role of institutional repositories (IRs) in broadening access and visibility of academic work. Authors of monographs or contributed chapters published by the Press may share select portions of their work under the following conditions:

  1. Version Allowed
Authors may deposit the accepted manuscript (AAM) version of their work — that is, the version post–peer review but prior to copyediting, typesetting, or final formatting. The final published version (Version of Record) may not be deposited.
  2. Portion Allowed
Authors may deposit one chapter, or the introduction, of the AAM of their monograph or contributed chapter.
  3. Embargo Period
Deposit may take place no earlier than 12 months after the official publication date of the work.
  4. Permitted Repositories
Deposits are limited to institutional repositories maintained by the author’s academic institution or discipline-based non-commercial repositories. Posting to commercial sites (e.g., Academia.edu, ResearchGate) is not permitted.
  5. Usage Restrictions
Deposited content must be shared for non-commercial, educational purposes only.
  6. Required Attribution
    All deposits must include:
*A complete bibliographic citation of the published work.
*A link to the book’s page on the University of Arizona Press website.
  7. Additional Notes
Authors are encouraged to consult with the Press prior to deposit to confirm eligibility and ensure compliance with formatting and attribution requirements.
