Ambroggio Prize
The Ambroggio Prize is an annual publication award given by the Academy of American Poets for outstanding book-length poetry manuscripts originally written in Spanish and accompanied by an English translation.
Named after the Argentine-American poet, Luis Alberto Ambroggio, it is the only award of its kind in the United States that honors American poets whose first language is Spanish. Past judges include Aaron Coleman, Giannina Braschi, Norma Cantú, Raina J. León, and Rigoberto González.
Since 2020, the University of Arizona Press, as a nationally recognized publisher of award-winning works of Latinx and Indigenous literature, has partnered with the Academy of American Poets to publish the winning manuscripts. These bilingual poetry books celebrate Spanish as a literary language of the United States.
